    USPS Online Rates

We ship some products with USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate. Since the recent rate change the Medium Flat Rate has a retail rate of $12.35 and an online rate of $11.30. Our USPS module (U.S.P.S. Online Rate Calculation Domestic & International) is bringing in and charging customers the retail rate. But, we want them to be charged the online rate, same as what we are paying. How do we accomplish this? Seems like it ought to be simple.

    Thanks.

    Barry,

You'll want to speak to USPS as the module connects to their servers and pulls the rate directly from them. They may need to make an adjustment to your WebTools account to get the correct rates.

      Re: USPS Online Rates

Jim, after a couple of calls to the postal service they put it back to Miva. They say that the shopping cart determines how the rate request is made via coding and the USPS just responds to the request. So Miva's module would have to request either the retail or online rates and this is obviously not a choice in the current module. The code must currently request the retail rate.

Since the most recent USPS price increase the difference between retail and online rates has become greater. Is there a plan to improve the versatility of this module? Or is there a workaround? I would imagine this is not a unique situation. Thanks.

        Barry,

What version of the USPS module do you have installed? You should have this one:

        https://support.mivamerchant.com/sup...ational-v42407

That being said, we will not be updating anything for Miva Merchant v4 as we stopped supporting it a couple of years ago. If you would like to use the latest release of our USPS module you'll have to upgrade to v5.

            Re: USPS Online Rates

Excellent but if this site is with the same host it's going to take some work to capture the xml call to USPS and their response. If you were hosted with us I could do it in less than 5 minutes.

They will need to add this to Empresa's configuration file for you domain:

            SetEnv MvCONFIG_LOG_LEVEL 1048576
            SetEnv MvCONFIG_LOG_FILE mvcall.log

The apache webserver will need to be restarted after the addition. It's crucial that you make the call to USPS as soon as possible after the logging addition to minimize the noise in the log. The best way to get the log is to step through the order and fill out your shipping and billing address information on the OCST page but do not continue. Add the logging information, restart apache, and then click the next button to make the call to USPS. Once that is done you'll want to turn off logging immediately. You'll obviously have to work very closely with your host to get this done. Once you have the log file you can private message it to me. It's encrypted so I must decrypt it for you.

If this site is with Cybrhost you shouldn't have any issues getting this done as they support their clients pretty well. If they have any questions about this procedure they're more than welcome to open a ticket and put my name in the subject and a link to this thread in the body. I've worked with them many times.

Great Jim. We are with Cybrhost. I will get them involved shortly and let you know the outcome.

                Barry,

I just got word from my developers that this is being caused by a bug in the module. They created a bug report on it today and should have it fixed in an upcoming patch.

Jim, it's almost 2 months since you mentioned the patch being in the works. This seems a long time to me for something so essential as presenting the correct rates to customers. Can you please get me a status update on this patch? Thanks.
