Would find it supremely helpful to choose a category to be discounted vs. selecting each product within a category or several categories. That way when items are moved into or out of the category they would be automatically included in the sale price.

We've had a few people request that same feature. I spoke with our development team about it and there are some pretty large technical hurdles required to implement that functionality. Its on our radar, but I would not anticipate anything soon.
