"Specific Sales Price" rather than regular price in Template Data Feed

I have been using Template Data Feed for years. I just noticed that I am submitting my regular price rather than my sales price to Google Shopping. How do I pull in my monthly sales prices? I am using the standard Miva Marketing and Specific Sales Price for these items. They are available to all shoppers.
    Thank you,
    John

Is there a way to use: &mvte:product:formatted_price; but not formatted to pull in the actual current selling price into Template Data Feed?
    Thank you,
    John

      John,

I think you are referencing the Specific Sale Price that is assigned to a product when you use the built in Marketing Price Group 'Specific Sale Price' and if I am correct you can do that with the custom field variable in Template Data Feed.

The specific sale price is a custom field that always starts with SALE_PRICE:_ then is is just the name of the Marketing Price Group with _ in place of the spaces and all caps. For example if you had a Marketing Price Group called July Sale then the custom field would be SALE_PRICE:_JULY_SALE

If you put the variable for custom field in Template Data Feed called %custom:????% and use the custom field code above it should work. So for the example above it would be %custom:SALE_PRICE:_JULY_SALE%

The problem with this is you can not do any conditional statements within the Template Data Feed module. So if a product did not have the
'Specific Sale Price' filled out or assigned then it would not get a price.

        Nick,
We have the same problem. If I understand what you are saying if we only have 5% of our products on sale and want to make a submission to Google we will not get any price for 95% of our items because they don't have a sale price set using your suggested code - correct?

What are our options since Google will disallow all items that have prices in the submission that don't match the price on the website. A bit sad I would say.

I created a custom field called gprice or something. Then I uploaded all of my prices to it. I create my sales and make them active. Then I go to the catalog product screen and put the gprice field next to the sales price. If you check the first item and do a CRTL-a, all of them will be selected. Then you can edit them all at once. Simply copy the correct price to the gprice column. It works pretty easily for me, although it would be nice if it could happen automatically.
          Thank you,

John, but doesn't that defeat the usage of the new Sale feature in the Marketing Price Group? Or at least create more work?

It sounds like more insight is still needed on how to use the Sale function of the Marketing Price Group.

I agree a 100% and maybe there is a better way. Please let me know if you find it.

However, this like quite a few other things aren't completely functional. For example you can't import / export marketplace stuff. There is very little support for image management, ie how do I clear out dead images and I couldn't bring them into a new copy of version 9. Etc.

I think it is up to MIVA to resolve this situation. They created this sales pricing scheme, they know store owners have to submit pricing as part of their submission, they know Google disallows any products that have price discrepancies between the feed and their website, they own the module that is the primary feed mechanism for various search engines and stores. It is in their lap to make it all work.

                      Brennan,
Can you report if Miva is making any progress on this issue. I and I believe others are not able to use the built in sale price function within Miva and make correct submissions to Google without hand editing price in the submissions data.

At the moment that is what I'm doing but I'm just not putting items on sale at the moment because it is too much of a hassle to hand modify each item.
                      Thanks,

If the marketplace utilizes the standard custom field features, you could populate a custom field called, lets say "google_feed_price" automatically.

                        Create a page called "PrepareGoogleFeed".
Assign the Product List item (from the PLST template)
Make sure you have no pagination turned on.
In the Foreach loop normally used to display the products, run conditionals that
                        - Test for a Market Place discount, and if the discount is there, write the discounted price in the the google_feed_price, if not, write the standard price into that field.
Now, you can use call the google_feed_price in the Template Feed module.

HOWEVER, It might be easier just to do the google feed from a similar page.

(Note: you may also want to block the functioning of this page either by using something like our Developer Sandbox module (oh, just joking, there isn't anything like it ;) ) or using <mvt:if expr="s.http_refer" EQ '111.222.333.444'"> (i.e. your IP address).

Out of curiosity, has this made it onto your schedule? We're getting ready to start a project to output a feed using a custom page template, and could put that project off (in favor of others) if the Template Data Feed was going to be updated in time for Black Friday (with absolute certainty). I'm just trying to fine tune our project list and ran across this thread, so I thought I'd ask before we started the data feed project next week. Thanks!

An update to Template Data Feed to support this won't be out before the end of the year. We do have plans to build a version of template data feed into Miva itself, so there is a good chance we'll hold all changes to the TDF module and instead focus effort on the built in version.

I would go the page template route for now.
