Re: OUI/MMUI Store Framework Exporter Beta

    Here's how I think of it -

The framework export - Look & Feel

The Order History and Catalog Exporter - Data

Rick, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong :)

      Sounds good. :)

I think that you might want to mention it in the Merchant 5 forum as well, because i am sure that some of the visitors would like to know about this as well (and possibly they don't visit the Merchant 4 forums).

Re: OUI/MMUI Store Framework Exporter Beta

The problem I had with the previous data transfer was the fact that it "reset" all of the numeric ids (products.d.id, categories.d.id, etc). This meant that since all third-party modules reference those records by ID (or they should have, anyway) this resetting of the ID field broken referential integrity with third-party modules.

In other words, in the MM4 store, product with the code "ABC123" might have Products.d.id = 253, but in the new MM5 store that id would typically change to a new value.

Does this new exporter keep the same numeric IDs between the MM4 store and the MM5 one? If so I can see this one being huge for us.

Re: OUI/MMUI Store Framework Exporter Beta

It does not. I realized back in 2x using the ID to tie to 3rd party modules was a bad idea. People imported and replaced (rather than update) products with the same product without abandon. Hence the ID changes. So most (but not all) of my modules rely on the product code. There are a couple that do use the ID. For those, I made an export module for 4x and an import module for 5x so those are covered. I suspect most developers have done the same thing if they were relating to the ID.

            QUESTION ABOUT OUI TOKENS:

In general, is anything that starts with a % going to be an OUI token? (e.g., %product_name%, %inv_available%, %inv_level%)

Is there a corresponding Merchant variable that can be used?

Or does the variable that needs to be used depend on which page it is being rendered?

OUI CATEGORY / PRODUCT HEADERS AND FOOTERS QUESTION:

Is there a way to get the OUI category and product headers and footers data without having to import everything as a framework???

I am trying to import data into my CSSUI on my 5.5 store.

The catalog export doesn't seem to export category / product headers and footers.

Can't use the .pkg file on a CSSUI store.

                any suggestions?

will template data feed 4 export OUI ctgy / prod headers and footers?

                thanks in advance.

Are you sure the headers/footers are in the framework export? How can you import category/product headers and footers before the categories and products themselves are imported from the catalog export?

TDF - category but not product.

Re: OUI/MMUI Store Framework Exporter Beta

                    Hi there, Bill:

Are you sure the headers/footers are in the framework export?
                    I am not sure...

When I run the Export OUI Layout to Framework it lists this:

                    Category Headers/Footers
                    Product Headers/Footers

In the admin screen, so I am assuming they are being exported.

However, when I try to open the .pkg file in a text editor (notepad++) that is created, then all I get is gibberish

It DOESN'T create an XML file - it is some other kind of format. So i can't use the XML import.

When i ran the catalog export, no category / product headers or footers seem to be generated in the .xml file

The header / footer data should be in the catalog export. The framework export is for look & feel.

You would think. That's why this is a beta. Maybe Rick could look into it and confirm where that data is getting exported.

                          Hi ya, Leslie:

The header / footer data should be in the catalog export.
                          The operative word is "should"...

Looked all over the xml file that is exported and it ain't in there.

I know Rick is on vacation right now, but I got his cell phone number here and way too much free time on my hands, so let me just give him a call here...

                              Hi there, Leslie:

What happens when you import the XML file?
I haven't imported the XML file.

When I set it up about two months ago, my host (hostasaurus) used the standard provision file created by Merchant 4. That imported about 90% of the data. The only data that really wasn't imported was the ctgy / prod headers and footers.

So. I am reluctant to import the data again using the catalog XML file that was generated. I was going to just edit it down to include only the ctgy / prod headers and footers (and any new customers / orders since the original import two months ago).

The thing is, if I search the catalog XML file for text that is in my product headers, then I can't find it in the catalog XML file, which pretty much tells me that the catalog XML file is not exporting headers and footers.
I have looked through the category

Any chance you can check on whether the OUI Data (product / category headers and footers) can be exported with the CATEGORY export, since those of us with CSSUI won't be able to use the provision files?

                                thanks in advance.
