Shipping tracking number URLs : how to format it?

    Hi Everyone
I am setting up the "order shipped" email that are send to my customers

On the domain settings - Shipping tracking links, I entered the links for our common carriers

    FEDEX http://www.fedex.com/Tracking?tracknumbers=
    UPS http://www.ups.com/WebTracking/track?loc=en_US
    US Mail http://www.usps.com/shipping/trackan...rackandconfirm
    GSO http://www.shipgso.com/

But on the order confirmation email, when I click it, it actually brings us to those pages (which is a good start) but does not insert the actual tracking numbers into the page.

So basically customers have to copy and paste the tracking numbers, can something be done, so that customers do not need to cut and paste tracking numbers? I.e. click the link and goes straight to the page with the tracking number already "embedded" in the link

    Thank you!

What do you have as the URL for the href tag for the tracking link?

For instance, mine is like this:

    <a href="&mvte:shipments:tracklink;">

Is that what you are using, or are you using something else?

If you have something like that, then what do the Shipment Tracking Links look like in your Global -> domain Settings - shipment Tracking Links section?

My UPS link, for example, looks like this:

    http://wwwapps.ups.com/WebTracking/processInputRequest?sort_by=status&tracknums_displ ayed=1&TypeOfInquiryNumber=T&loc=en_US&InquiryNumb er1=%tracknum%&track.x=0&track.y=0

Please note that you will need to ensure all your links in that section have the token %tracknum% in them.

Mark, thank you !! the UPS link worked WONDERFULLY !!! I tested it and it works...

I also used the %tracknum%on the FEDEX and USPS links and they worked good too...
      Now to figure out GSO.
      :)
      Thank you again!

        Hey there, Bimmerzone:

How exactly are you integrating the GSO shipping rates into your store? It looks like their delivery services are ONLY available in California, and in the URBAN parts of Nevada and Arizona.

So does your store check the zip code and compare it against a list of zip codes that CSO delivers to?

          Mark
I actually offer free shipping on orders over $75 and $5 flat charge for anything below that :) so no complicated shipping structure... the overnight stuff I just use UPS tables.

In case you've landed here searching for GSO (Golden State Overnight) tracking URL construction, here's the format:

You can use this tracking link:

            Track by Tracking Number
            https://www.gso.com/Trackshipment?TrackingNumbers=

You can search multiple tracking numbers by separating them using a comma.
