Re: Adding Product Images To Your Basket In PR8

I am feeling really ignorant here, but I just moved to PR8 and may not be handling things correctly.

I don't think I understand much of what is said here:
    1) The attribute is an inventory attribute
    2) You have generated variants and set their inventory levels above zero
    3) You have added additional images to the variants themselves (not the master product)

I have always used the attribute tab to manage my attributes. Sounds like I have to use the Inventory Variant tab. Is there a tutorial of how this works? Looking at it, I have no idea how to make it work. We generally do not manage inventory through miva though if this helps to get our images showing correctly, I am happy to do it. Maybe I don't have something checked in my items tab?

      Found this post: http://extranet.mivamerchant.com/for...tory+attribute.

Will try this out and see what I find. Right now, I am stuck with System library 'GD' is not registered error, so I am checking with my host to see what the trouble is.

Re: Adding Product Images To Your Basket In PR8

        Hi folks,

I'm not having much luck with this procedure as well. When following the prescribed steps, I get stuck on the import process. I copy/paste the column of product images over to the new basket image type column and the import process finishes, but the new basket image type data doesn't appear to be saved when I check for them in the "edit product" interface. I've tried many different variations of doing the product import without any success.

When I try to manually add a new basket image in the "edit product" interface by copy/pasting an image path in the "additional images" tab, I get the following error message:

System library 'GD' is not registered

Has anyone else run into this problem? I corresponded a bit with Jim at Miva tech support to determine if this error message is related to server setup/configuration and was ultimately referred back to this thread.

        Thanks for reading,

Perhaps there was a misunderstanding as they may not have bothered to check the Miva engine configuration? At this time, I don't need help with any code editing as I haven't even reached that step yet until I can overcome this current obstacle.

While the settings in the admin appear correct, I'm still having a problem with adding new basket image type images whether through the admin via the "edit product" interface or via import. If tech support can try either method they should be able to see the error message that I'm experiencing.

                Best regards,

                        1) Create at least one image type from Products > Image Types
                        2) Edit your BASK page and on the Basket Contents tab check the box next to your image type code under Product Images and click Update

You should then see a Basket Contents Image Dimensions tab.

                          Hello,

Make sure your store is fully up to date, you should be on PR8 update 3. If you are fully up to date and don't see the tab ' Basket Contents Image Dimensions ' on the BASK page in the admin, please email [email protected] and we can take a look, refer to this forum thread in your email.

                              Code:
                              &mvt:product:customfield_values:productimagecustomfields:IMAGE_TYPE_CODE;
NOTE: you must install the Product Image Custom Fields utility module before these variables are accessible.
Would this be the code to use if I want to call my images for Facebook likes or Pinterest pins?

                                What! Heathen! Hieritic!!!!

My site has to look exactly like Amazon and Lands End...even if I have 100th the budget!!!

Seriously. though interesting...this seems like overkill for the vast majority of sites. I've pointed out the simple method for those who are willing to plan ahead a bit. simply name your code according to product codes, and call them with "graphics/00000001/&mvt:item:code_thb.jpg

(assuming you named your image with the pattern of "product_code" + "_thb" + "extension". You could even make smaller images for the basket, called with "graphics/00000001/&mvt:item:code_bsk.jpg", etc.

the only time I'd got through the "image machine" method is if I really had a big budget (maintainance as well as development) and it was something where the attributes REALLY effected the appearance of the product, I.e, clothes, cars, etc.)
