Add handling charge specific to shipping method?

The Fedex Legacy API (now defunct) had allowed us to add a handling charge specific to Fedex shipments. The new Fedex Web Services does not. We can set a handling charge in Shipping Rules that is global to all shipping methods, but wish to set a charge for Fedex that will not affect USPS. Does anyone know of a workaround or module that will allow us to restore our Fedex-only handling charge?

Replying to my own question with this update:

We spoke with the Fedex Web Server Department and found that the new Fedex API still allows for the addition of a handling charge to its rate quote lookup. We will need an update from Miva Merchant to restore this function.

I too have this issue. The handling charge needs to be added individually to each shipping method not accross the board - makes much more sense. The USPS module does this.

This can be put on the Dream Features list and it's a good idea, but it's not on our short term list (as in it won't be in PR8 Update 7).

Maybe use Weiland's Addendum module and wrap a shipping method conditional around it.

Use the Emporium Plus Tool Kit. It would work fine for that. Most stores are using the upcharge function to add a surcharge for orders below a certain dollar value rather than preventing the orders which don't meet order minimums. You could easily change the conditional and apply it based on shipping method chosen. See http://www.emporiumplus.com/1AA00223.html #142 It shows a conditional related to the basket total.

We need this feature too. USPS provides boxes but we typically add a small fixed amount to Fedex or UPS to cover that cost. We prefer it not show as a separate fee and for it to be included. Can the Toolkit do that or would it show as a separate line item?

What is the cleanest way to remove an upcharge for the cart? I am adding a Sat Delivery Charge but say someone goes back out of the checkout and starts the checkout over, I noticed inconsistencies on the Basket Page when trying to 0 the upcharge.
