    Mix & Match Volume Pricing

Digging through the forums, I've found that this has come up in the past (2009) but hasn't seemed to resurface lately. Site owner needs the ability to mix & match products within specific categories. For example, if a customer buys 10 of 1 item, 20 of another, and 3 of another, they get the price break for 30+ items on all 3 products, even if it is a different price.

    Another way it was explained:

A retail customer orders a quantity of 3 cheap product Y at a price of $2.25 each. They also order a quantity of 2 expensive product XX at $34 each. (Individually, if they order just the 5 expensive products, the price goes down to $29 each for a total savings of $25 for the 5 expensive products.) This customer has 3 cheapies, and 2 expensives in their cart that would trip the volume pricing of 5 for the expensive product and give them a $10 total discount which is *more* than the cost of the 3 cheapie products.
I've found a couple of PHP carts that can do it, but I'm just not exactly sure how they are doing it.

    http://www.exoticblanks.com/index.ph...mart&Itemid=60

http://www.beartoothwoods.com/catalog/mix_match.php - looks like they may be doing it by category

Has anyone come up with something that does this? I'd hope so by now, since the question has actually been brought up all the way back to 2003 it looked like when I searched.

    Thanks,
    Leslie

Wow, I guess I'm going to have to move this to work for hire. This is a "show stopper" for the site owner. FYI, the site is still in development and I'd hate to see the owner move to another platform just for this critical feature.

Check out the volume pricing module by Latu http://store.latu.net/featured/LATU-VDISCOUNT.html?Preview

I'm not sure if it does everything you need but it should get you close.

        Hey Leslie,

Would you be able to use:

DISCOUNT BASED ON QUANTITY BY CATEGORY
        http://www.emporiumplus.com/mm5/merc..._Code=1AA00210

        Or

PERCENT OFF BASED ON QUANTITY BY CATEGORY

          Hey Ron,

It gets part of it, but it also means that the products can only be "matched" within the same category. It's not quite the answer.

Re: Mix & Match Volume Pricing

We use DISCOUNT BASED ON QUANTITY BY CATEGORY and it does span categories.

The product can even be purchased from a different category, sale for example. As long as the item is assigned to a category that the discount has been applied to, then the discount will apply.

Include Category Codes For Discount: Enter each applicable code followed by the | character.

Re: Mix & Match Volume Pricing

Okay here's another scenario - this question is more for the Latu module, but if any of Bill's modules can do this (and Bill has been asked) then it's the more desirable route to go.

              The following products are "mixable"
              product X
              1-10=$3.75 each
              11-25=$3.55 each
              26-50=$3.35 each
              50+=$3.15 each

              product Y
              1-10=$4.25 each
              11-25=$4.05 each
              26-50=$3.95 each
              50+=$3.75 each

Customer buys 9 of product X, which would be $3.75 each. They then buy 18 of Product Y, which would be at $4.05 each. But those products combined would actually trip the prices in the 26-50 level. What I am getting at is can each product be assigned it's own prices at a specific quantity tier, and then the combined quantity would trigger the prices in that tier. This is not a specific $$ amount off, or % off, but a specific price within a tier.

              Thoughts?

Re: Mix & Match Volume Pricing

It took me a couple weeks to get on this and I was pretty sure I would not get to it before I got back from my cruise. But alas, I was able to squeeze it in between support questions. I have not gotten any of those time consuming mobile optimizations this week so there was plenty of free time. $150 for mobile optimizations and still no takers. Not a good sign.

Anyway, you can go to http://www.emporiumplus.com/1AA00087.html and see how it works. The volume price table is showing on that screen. If you put some in the basket with the same or different attributes you will see how the current row highlight moves in the table. That is the way the module has always worked. Well, now I've added that if you buy from the User Interface category, you can move the bar to lower price tiers. So they don't all have to be 1AA00087. You can define mix and match with other categories or even individual products (that are not in those other categories). You define the mix and match in each product that it applies to. So in this testing period, I have 1AA00087 discountable. But the opposite, e.g. other products in the User Interface category are not. Some of them, e.g. Tool Kit, are volume priced but are not mixable with other modules to reduce their cost. This gives you maximum flexibility in your promotions. Anyway, I'll test for a couple weeks and then release it publicly after I'm confident all the issues are worked out.

This looks good Bill. Nice job. How is your testing going or has it already been released? We are running 5.0330 in our dev store but don't see anything in the admin that resembles that functionality. Do we need to upgrade to 5.0340?

It IS in 5.033. Go to the product edit screen and you should see two new inputs related to amalgamate.
