Free Shipping/No Shipping for Softgoods Products

    Hello,

We sell softgoods and hardgoods and are trying to figure out a way to handle the shipping on our MM5 store.

If the basket has both a softgood and hardgood, it should show the normal shipping options (primarily UPS) and calculate the shipping based on the weight of the items. This seems to work fine.

Otherwise, if the cart only has a downloadable product then the shipping should show as Electronic Download $0.00. This does not seem to be working.

In the shipping methods rules I have set Free Shipping to display as Electronic Delivery. In the product for the softgood product, I have only checked Free Shipping as a permitted shipping method and I have the softgoods product set to a weight of 0.

When I checkout I get an Unable to Calculate Shipping Method error.

Any thoughts on what I might be doing wrong?

    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks to this post: http://extranet.mivamerchant.com/for...eight-Charges)

I can answer my own question! Here's how (in mm5):

    1. In the Shipping Settings, check Flat Rate Shipping.
    2. Then, in the Flat Rate Shipping module, add a method. I called mine Electronic Delivery and made the amount 0.00.
    3. I use weight based shipping - So then, go into the Shipping Rules (under Shipping Settings) and select Shipping Method Rules. Select Electronic Delivery and in the Restrict to Total Weight, I made it 0.00 to 0.10.
    4. Be sure the weight of the softgoods products are set to 0.00. And, in the Shipping Rules for the product, check only Electronic Delivery.

If the customer is buying only softgoods, which are all set at a weight of 0.00, then the order total weight will be 0.00 and the Electronic Shipping option will display. If you have a total weight greater than 0.10 the electronic option will not display, but other shipping options will.

    Hope this helps others!

Re: Free Shipping/No Shipping for Softgoods Products

I've tried Robin's method and I think I may have too many shipping variables for it to work. The store needs to have a variety of Free Shipping methods (labels).

One label is for free sample shipping and uses the Sort Shipping Plus Free Shipping Option module to be able to restrict the shipping to just the single product. I would prefer to be able to use this module for the second free shipping scenario but it only has the ability to have one label (Free (reduced) Method Name) but I can't because there is another shipping method that needs to be offered for the samples, if the customer wants to pay the fee.

So I've been trying to use the Flat Rate Shipping method to create the Electronic Delivery as Robin has done. When I try Robins combination and then add something other than the item to be delivered electronically to the basket and checkout, I get the following error message:

Shipping could not be calculated for your basket. This may be due to a network or configuration error, or the contents of your basket may not be able to be shipped in a single shipment.
This has been driving me crazy, suggestions are welcome - please!

      Thanks,
      Leslie
