    Problems Importing Orders from mm4 to mm5

    Hello,

    I have recently upgraded to MM5. I used the export/import tools provided by MIVA to port data over to our upgraded store. All of the products came in nicely. However, I can't say the same for the orders. While I can see all of the orders in the provide.xml, they are not showing up in the MM5 store. In fact, large chucnks of orders are missing. For example, here is a sequence of orders by order ID

    Order # ---> Order Date
    4897 --> 6/7/12
    5078 --> 7/9/12
    5304 --> 11/1/12
    5350 --> 12/18/12

    I am wondering why all of the orders will not import into the new store? Any ideas?

    TIA!

    Products show fine because they can import. But orders don't import.

      Actually, many orders did import, but chunks of them did not. Those are the orders that I am trying to get into the new store. Any ideas anyone?

        I believe this can happen if the orders are assigned to a customer account that does not exist in the v5 store. Open a ticket with support if you continue to have issues and please make sure to reference this forum post.

        Thank you,

          Thank you. I have submitted a ticket. I am not sure that the lack of a customer account is exactly the problem since I had no customer accounts set up in my new store before I imported the orders from the old store. And, on the old store all customers were required to create an account before ordering. But, after looking a little deeper, I do think that you are onto something Wayne. In the 4.x store what appears to be random orders so not have the button to edit the customer account and that seems to trigger eliminating the next chunk of orders. Hopefully support can help me sort it out.

          Thank you for your help.

            Hey Wayne,

            I was told once upon a time that the orders do not import. In fact November 2012 was when I was last told this when working on a client site (existing mm5 to dev mm5 now live). Can they indeed by imported? I don't know that the client has access anymore to the old store, so it probably wouldn't help them, but it would help others in the future, if importing is possible.

            I'd appreciate your input.

                jsdva and lesliekirk,

                This thread was started regarding issues importing orders from version 4 to version 5. We have tools to help import orders from version 4 to version 5 (OUI/MMUI Store Framework Exporter). Currently we do not have a tool to handle the transfer of orders from version 5 to version 5 however our professional services team does have experience doing this process manually. Anyone interested in the transfer of orders from v5 to v5 can contact our Sales team to inquire about pricing.

                robinemcd,

                Our team will more than likely ask for the xml files so if you can please zip them up and reply to your open ticket with us.

                Thank you,

                Wayne

                  Thank you Wayne! So if the professional services team can do it, we should be able to do it ourselves as well for mm5 to mm5? Do you have instructions anywhere that would allow us to do this ourselves? I don't believe I've seen it anywhere in the docs.

                      Unfortunately we do not have this documented with step by step instructions however we do have a blog post that should provide you with some insight on this process.

                      Our professional services team can do this migration of data for you and I believe the prep work is around 5 hours. Contact our sales team if you're interested in hearing more about the service.

                        Thanks Wayne. Doesn't help for mm5 to mm5 much. Maybe eventually we'll get the instructions/details.

                          Jamie,

                          The main focus of that blog post is migrating data from mm5 (w/ mmui) to mm5 (w/ cssui). Review the section under Order History. Someone will need to manually export the order data via MySQL and import it into the 'live' mm5 MySQL. I would strongly encourage anyone doing this to work with a backup before performing this on the live environment.

                            I think I would try it on a development server and never live for the first time. Thank you Wayne. That does help.

                              Following up here...Do we have any instructions yet for importing orders into a version 5 miva dev store from a version 5 existing store (or mm5 to mm5)? Support techs say no, but still thinking that if professional services can do it, perhaps there are instructions for the rest of us somewhere.

                              Thanks,
