    Bitcoin module interest group

Kent Multner of http://themagicm.com/ is planning on developing a bitcoin payment module for miva.
If you are interested in accepting bitcoin on your site (and you should be) please reply to this thread or PM me or him.
The price for this module will be around $150, depending on interest.

As a side note, the other day I had an option of paying for my breakfast via bitcoin in person at Coupa cafe in Palo Alto http://www.coupacafe.com/, so bitcoin is going mainstream rapidly!

Curious as to the status of this.
I just saw a post in our Quickbooks cloud that they now offer bitcoin (beta) for payments.

Is anyone actively pursuing a module or stand alone script?
Any payment buttons / solutions anyone would recommend, they seem to come and go and no idea who to trust.

I'm pursuing this "semi-actively." I've done some research, and I keep up with news in this area; and I've had some contact with one of the principals of the BitPay gateway. It does seem like Bitcoin is going mainstream, although there have been some setbacks too, such as when the Mt. Gox exchange was hacked. Anyone who's interested in the project is welcome to contact me directly.

        Thanks --

I have been following this closely and since the MtGox deal has pretty much ceased, BTC has rebounded and is sitting very steady for the last while. Let us know when you get a module up and I may implement it to see how it goes.

I know I'll get flax for this, but I'll say it again. Writing a payment module that adheres to all the new security standards and integrates with all the new order processing features (ship status, returns, partial credit, RMAs etc) is not an inexpensive venture and would take more (IMHO) than a half dozen people at 150 each. More like 100. Not trying to rain on any parades, just that finding the seeding is going to be an uphill battle.

Add another miva user to the interested parties for Bitcoin payment integration. Count me in.

Isn't there already a gateway for Miva that accepts Bitcoin? Or maybe coming soon? I seem to remember seeing that mentioned in the forums. If there's nothing in the pipeline, this might be something I could do in 2018.

Would be great if Miva supported this but I haven't even seen anything real about a custom module being created or cost involved by third parties.

At this point in time Bitcoin is (obviously) insanely popular and skyrocketing in value, it's currently (in our opinion) an asset class, not a true currency. What we mean by that is people are buying it for investment and holding on to it, which is causing huge volatility in the price, which is antithetical to a currency (which needs a generally stable value).

Also it takes a while for transactions to settle, generally far far longer than a normal payment gateway.

For those reasons and others we're not currently considering adding it to the core platform, but I do think Bruce, Kent, Susan or many others could successfully write and maintain an integration for less than the current price of 1 BTC
