MIVA Merchant Social Commerce Page module for Facebook

    Greetings.

I have been wanting to implement our store in some fashion on our Facebook page. I tried to implement the Emporium Plus solution back in 2011 but could not get it functioning.

Has anyone implemented the "Social Commerce Page" module MIVA is selling for $249 and if so, are you pleased with the results?

Or does anyone know of any other solutions to adding my MIVA store to Facebook?

    Thanks in advance.

            Hey Tom -

I can give you some background on the implementation side of things. This is not a module but actually a service. Facebook provides the ability to add new tabs or buttons to your facebook page. See the shop online button here:

            https://www.facebook.com/mivamerchant

This is actually a Facebook App where you can iframe a page.

The on the Miva side, we create and format a dynamic page of products which is tied to a Facebook Category in your Miva store. So you can assign and unassign products from this category and it will automatically update the products you are displaying on Facebook

Here are a couple live examples:
            https://www.facebook.com/AllInMercha...08195102528120

            https://www.facebook.com/BatteryOper...18197871557271

Our solution only provides a link to the product. I believe Emporium Plus had a version where you can browse the entire catalog within Facebook:

            https://www.facebook.com/EmporiumPlu...08730215822334

We're more than happy to help if you need assistance, but if you wanted to try this yourself you can create a facebook app to allow you to create the new button on your Facebook page.

              Hey Brandon,

Thank you for the quick response with examples. I will do some investigation and work based on your input.

You really need to add a way to see all of the comments in one place, or an approval process. I'm always having to remove smartass comments from people on a few items.

I looked at the various stores mentioned in this thread and the 2 Miva referenced look like a reasonable start. Miva's approach seems to be to set up a category of products you wish to display on your Facebook page with links back to your Miva store? It sounds like the number of products in the category exceed the number displayed and the extras are rotated on to the Facebook page at some time interval. Is that the gist of approach?

Are any other Miva users utilizing a Facebook store? Would share a link to your store?
                  Thanks,

We use ShopTab.net for now, but we are not happy with it. Here is our facebook store.

                      Bill,
Thanks for sharing. I didn't know about ShopTab but checked out a few videos and posts. I also looked at your nice website. Your Facebook store page looked different that some of the videos. It was my impression from the videos that your store front would just appear within the Facebook banner but the customer would actually be in your Miva store with your store application and complete inventory.

It appears to me that you may have made a category listing of items you wanted to feature. I did click through your store up to the buy point and the app did take me to your Miva checkout page.

What kind of issues do you have that make you not happy? Does Facebook generate leads to your store page - i.e do you find new customers from the Facebook members or do you have to do all the work to get members to your Facebook page?
                      Thanks,
                      Chet Vincentz

Spoke with tech support, and they basically told me that they don't have much configuration options, I can even change the Shop Tab icon without problems. It only imported the first 5k products, cant change colors, icons, etc... I plan to ditch ShopTab as soon as we switch to V9 and implement Wieland's method unless I can find something better.
                        Thank you, Bill Davis

                          Bill,

I will have to confirm your analysis of ShopTab. Their upload software is a disaster. They can't tell you any reasons for error. Even tech support can't find the reasons for rejections. Some feeds worked, some didn't.

I originally thought the subscription price was low enough to try for a while and see what happens. I guess you get what you pay for.

I went ahead and cancelled my trial subscription.
                          Thanks,

We were not able to make it work until a tech with ShopTab resubmitted the feed for us. I'm not at all happy with the service, and will be discontinuing the service soon.

On another note, I notice on a previous post in this thread (below):
The on the Miva side, we create and format a dynamic page of products which is tied to a Facebook Category in your Miva store. So you can assign and unassign products from this category and it will automatically update the products you are displaying on Facebook

That the Facebook store link (above) appears to have a redirect to merchant's MIVA store, that could be an interim solution for us until we migrate to MV9 from MM4.24c after the holidays. ShopTab has a recurring cost, challenging to update for even for seasoned individuals, no customizations options to speak of, and worse to way to measure traffic and/or conversions.

Does anyone know how the above merchant implemented Facebook Store redirect to their MIVA store? If so, how?
                            Thank you, Bill Davis
