    Unable to capture payments because pass phrase is forgotten

    Hello forum: We have forgotten our payment capture pass phrase and Miva support says they cannot do anything about it. Is there a way to go into the database via dashboard and delete something that will solve this problem?

    That depends, do you use a gateway and they're already authorized and you just need to capture? If so, then you should be able to login directly to your gateway and bypass Miva for capture.

    If on the other hand you use simple validation and you need to decrypt the numbers to auth and capture by hand in a terminal, then no there is nothing you can do.

      Hi Rick: We don't care about past payments as they have been captured thru our gateway. Is there some way the pass phrase can be removed for future payments? That would solve our problem. Can the s01_encryption table have it's encryption row deleted? What would be the consequence of that. Don't see how it could make things worst. Just wondering.

        You can set a new pass phrase and mark it as active so all new orders will be encrypted using the new one that you know. You should not turn encryption off.

          David's right, you'll need to archive all your old orders and then configure a new pass phrase.
          Archiving doesn't actually delete the orders, it just clears out the old payment data which you won't have access to anyway since you lost the passphrase.
