    need help with kits

Hello forum: We sell picnic table frames and the lumber for the picnic table. Each of these is a separate product. Is there a way to include the lumber with the table so that when a table is added to the cart, the lumber is also added as a separate item, not as an attribute?
Tried using the kit builder but was unable to do what we need with it (I was unable to determine how it is supposed to work). We need to have both items added together automatically to the cart, we do not want the lumber to be an attribute of the table. the lumber must be it's own item as they ship separately and we need to calculate individual shipping for each.
    Hope someone can help, Larry

In another thread Bill said he discontinued this module when Miva added its kitting function and its up to Miva to decide whether or not to offer it for sale.

          There's a difference.

Miva's 'Kit builder' relies on 'variants'...which have their own overhead. If you simply need a product made up of other products, the add on, if still available, would be the faster, easier route.

Issue resolved. Was able to do this with a product custom field.

              Larry,

Out of curiosity, how did you end up using a product custom field to create the "kit"?

Actually the only portion of the additional product in the kit that we needed defined are the truck shipping parameters (from zip code, NMFC, class, weight & container type) so we used the custom field for that. It doesn't really provide a substitute for a kit.
