Re: $50 per additional simultaneous Administrative User

Point of clarification Mark - the first user (seat) is free. It's when you need two seats that you will have to pay the additional $50 a month. If only one person is logged in at a time, then there will be no need for a second seat. It doesn't affect the number of Users you can create, just the number of them that can be logged into the store at the same time.

You will simply have to excuse my wording and call it two seats not two users

Re: $50 per additional simultaneous Administrative User

I was one of the sad sacks not realizing what a disservice I was doing my checked baggage by letting it fly free for decades, so it seems strange at a number of levels to "monetize" the level of service a store owner provides customers.

I also advocate for a minimum of two users. I get a lot of requests to "take a quick look" at something that isn't working as the store owner expected. Having to coordinate logging in and out just to avoid adding costs to my clients' operations will be a royal pain.

They will certainly want to make it clear here.

              Rick,

we as developer need an additional account with admin privileges. We can not ask the client to pay for this. Please look into a solution so clients will not get upset.

                Andreas,

We'll be posting a lot of our thinking on this subject as well as reviewing feedback and other items.

However with this specific subject, I just want to be clear.

I don't see that as a valid argument/justification for a free developer seat. Over the past couple years we've internally had a number of development projects done for us on systems with this licensing mechanism (things like SalesForce and Sugar) and I've never seen that as a policy. In all cases we had to either not be in while our outside developer was in working on our project, or we had to let them use a paid seat.

Frankly it's hard to fathom someone who is paying $80 - $200/hour for a third party developer having a material issue with $50/month. On average that's less than 30 minutes of a developers time.

When it comes to module support, I have a different view.

When someone buys a $30 module and the developer "just needs to look" to "see what's going on", then I agree, forcing a license for that use case is burdensome. I'll be talking to my internal team about ways to solve that and currently I don't have an answer.

Frankly, the answer to the module problem will probably come after 9 is released and we see what actually happens with people's usage, but that's actively on my and our radar to solve conceptually.
                Thanks,

                  Thanks for looking into this:

Please don't forget, I've clients with 4-10 stores. Asking them to pay $500 more a month will not amuse them. As long as you can find a solution for me being in with the client they'll be happy.

Add to the FAQ list also stand alone programs which login to Miva to pull orders or update products. Will they work?

Yes they will (if they need simultaneous access).

And I suppose this is the same for technical support?

                          Will shared sessions be affected?

No, tech support can bypass this. And we're looking for a similar solution for third party module developers as well (but haven't come up with it yet).

I'm not sure what exactly you mean by this, could you clarify?
