        Re: Congratulations

        Wow,

I could not disagree more. From the photos and demo video I saw, I expected the intuitiveness and grace of an iPad, after playing with it a bit on one of our dev sites, it surely is not. It reminds me of the butchery that Monsoon Commerce did to StoneEdge OrderManger when they purchased StoneEdge and created v7 of Ordermanager.

Before I get of flood of email from everyone, we have been using MIVA for over 13 years now. We will continue to use MIVA and I'm sure will get use to the new format. I'm just upset that I cannot figure out how to have the "catalog section" in the admin, show a parent category, then its children categories underneath it, and then the next parent, and then those children underneath that ........ and so on. Not to mention, this morning it took my 15 minutes to figure out how to create a simple bookmark. Who would put a red square on the right side of the screen for bookmarking a page when the bookmark tab is on the left side of the screen. Software should not be this difficult.

OK, obviously I'm just venting, maybe I don't like change, maybe its time for me to retire. (which is probably true) I'm sure the new features that MIVA 9 has much to offer especially by replacing outdated and unsupported modules are a real plus. Not to mention an improved order admin for processing orders is a real plus for many merchants.

OK, I'm done. I hope folks at MIVA will forgive me, as they are a Great People and have a Superior Product. Simply put, without MIVA our company would not exist today. I look forward to the innovations that MIVA will produce in the years to come.

        Thanks

          Re: Congratulations

Kevin. First let me state I didn't update yet, so im at a bit of a disadvantage. But if I may let me give some thoughts on change. I also have been here since the early days and have seen so many changes but one, the UI has remained almost consistent. We are just so used to that setup anything different is foreign and a huge learning curve. Again i haven't downloaded it yet, but im seeing as an observation that most upset by the new UI are the ones who have been here the longest. I'm willing to bet anyone new coming to the platform will find it absolutely awesome as they have no past reference of what it once was.

Anyways there is no doubt this gonna take some time to learn. For now im watching, learning by reading the forums and yes letting those pesky bugs simmer down. Good luck to all who took the plunge.

          My 1.5 cents

We blew it on the subcat thing but we think we have it figured out and we'll be releasing an update shortly after Thanksgiving to add that feature.
              Thanks,

                  Hey Dan,

Thanks for the nice comment about our site. I especially like the young lady on your home page... Oh! to be 20 again.
