    Re: Some Observations/Inquiries

Here's another potential source of confusion:

When clicking "Store Settings," it takes you to an "Edit Store" section, but it also identifies it at "Store Details." The name of the outer link is not reflected on any of the destination areas.

There appears to be no unifying theme to any of this. I would think that clicking "Store Settings" would take you to an area called "Store Settings."

At first glance, and I don't know if this is just my computer yet, it seems that performance is noticeably slower in Firefox than in Chrome. Especially scrolling... page and menus.

I know that Chrome was always faster for Miva admin, but I've spent a lot of time in admin using Firefox and the performance issue was... well, not an issue.

This is different and more noticeable.

Even as I type this post (in FF) I was having delays in character display until I logged out of admin in Firefox at which point the delays ended immediately. So add that to the slow scrolling.

Chrome, on the other hand, is lickety split.

Have not tried (and won't be) IE.

Overall I like it though. The speed in Chrome (and sometimes FF) is very fast compared to before.

Anyone else seeing slower performance in Firefox?

By the way, does Phosphor Media have any official relationship with Miva?

I don't have Firefox on this computer (I have Chrome as well as IE), but I can confirm that our IE crashes and experiences issues while scrolling. I will try Firefox on our Server 2008 machine and tell you what I experience.

Firefox appears to work far better than IE.

                Re: Some Observations/Inquiries

It's worth noting that when Miva Engine 5.21 comes out (likely next month) there's a lot of speed optimizations for the admin, especially for large data sets. We had hoped to get that out in conjunction with 9 but that wasn't realistic.
                Thanks,

Frustrations are high and we all see things a little differently. Just a reminder - I still play the role of Miva Mom (moderator) so please "don't make me come down there".

                    Re: Some Observations/Inquiries

Okay, frustrations aside, let me just reiterate the following points for future consideration:

                    1) Unifying themes: IF you click a link that says "System Settings," it should lead to an area named "System Settings," just for consistency sake. That way, if you want to find it again, you aren't looking for something different.

                    2) Major section subdivisions: Keep your areas clean and compartmentalized. Keep your order management area separate from your store creation area and your product area.

                    3) Search should not be the default way to find something; please make all the nice new bells and whistles readily locatable within subcategories. Try to make user-friendly captions like "Build My Store," "Manage my inventory," etc for people who really need the extra guidance.

                    4) Someone really needs to review why this does not work smoothly with Internet Explorer. I know IE is not the best browser, but it is still default in almost every PC and there are bound to be issues. I think fewer elements would help in some of the hierarchy navigation and ease up some of the load times.

Meanwhile, bookmarks are great. THANK YOU!!! After finding some of the stuff we were really needing, it was nice to use a bookmark to find the feature again quickly.

We probably spent more time testing in IE 8-11 than any other browser. Out of curiosity what version if IE are you running?

                        Re: Some Observations/Inquiries

Depending on the computer, we have as old as 8 and as late as 11.

Again, I think the elements are the issue. One would not even appear on the laptop until zoomed out, and it was a front-center element (that is IE11). As to our older IE8 computer running on XP Pro SP3, that one crashed and reloaded the browser during loads at navigation repeatedly.

For what it's worth, we're likely going to discontinue formal support for IE8 soon. Running XP is not safe under any circumstances in this day and age, especially not for connecting to something that has access to credit card numbers.

Very disappointed to find that there is no full page editing of templates in Miva 9. Still must be done in a tiny box?
Also is the forum available from the menu in 9?

You should be able to drag the window larger in the lower right corner.
