    Re: module compatability

It doesn't automatically switch data from a third party module to our built in system.

However yes that module has been obsolete now for a long while.

And here is why I'm hoping the built in Gift Certificates are high on the "coming soon" list for Miva. We purchased the Sebenza module and discovered the bug in 5.5 that caused rounded errors. Looks like the bug was fixed in v9, but I'm holding off because I don't really want to install and fight with this module when Miva has said their own built in is coming. Rick, any rough timeframe?

Sebenza (all of their modules) should be avoided at all costs since the owner no longer cares to support them. It's a shame he's still selling them.

Is there information/documentation on how to switch back to Miva's system once this module is removed?

There is one (minor) gotcha and we warn you about it during upgrade if it's going to impact you. There are currently 7 known modules that use an older licensing scheme that expects the Version of Miva Merchant you're running to report back a 5. Once the upgrade is done, since it now reports back a 9, the license for those modules "breaks".

There is a manual work around in the database if you get upgraded and bump into that problem after the fact, and we expect most of those mods to be fixed by their issuer in the next day or so.

How do we apply the manual workaround? We are experiencing this license issue since the upgrade with Sebenza'a Category Tree Template, Product Template Manager, and Category Template Manager. No warning was provided regarding these modules during the upgrade process. We would ideally like to transition away from these modules eventually, but need to access the admin screens for them now and are greeted with the screen to enter a license key.

            Re: module compatability

We tested both installing Sebenza Modules on a version 9 store as well as upgrading form a PR8 store to a Version 9 Store an both cases worked.

This could be a case of you being on an old version of those modules. Can you give me the version of the modules you are on and try to upgrade to see if that fixes it?

Good News; this issue has now been solved. We were able to locate the original paperwork, entered the license info, and now the module is working again.

We've been getting reports that the Phone Order Manager is having some issues with Miva 9. I'll keep you posted once we identify and address the issue.

It's not an underlying functionality issue, it's literally a legacy licensing system expecting a 5 and seeing a 9 and getting confused.
Rick, is the work around something we can do ourselves? This is the only thing holding us back at the moment. Thanks.

General Rule of Best Upgrading Practices #3

ALWAYS, ALWAYS, and ALWAYS make sure that every module in your store is the MOST RECENT version. Regardless of whether someone implores you to update. Otherwise, its like giving your car a tune up and not replacing spark-plugs.

                        Re: module compatability

For anyone interested, here is how you fix this in the database. This does require you to edit your database directly, so if you'r not familiar with working within PHPMyAdmin, you'll want to have your developer make this update for you.

Via your server control panel (most likely plesk) login into phpmyadmin, to edit your database.

                        Find the WPAW_WPAWlic` table

There is a column named mvcool_v. This should have a 5 in it. You need to update it to be a 9.

                        Code:
                        UPDATE `WPAW_WPAWlic` SET `mvcool_v` = 9 WHERE `mvcool_v` = 5;

Re: module compatability - Wolfpaw AntiFraud

                          Hi Leslie:

Didn't get your email but yes we will be submitting an upgrade. However, the fix is almost too easy.

In the miva mysql database you will find a table called 'WPAW_WPAWlic'. In that table is a field named 'mvcool_v'. This field defines the version of MivaMerchant the module is supposed to work with. Using PhpMyAdmin simply change this field from 5 to 9. And voila the Antifraud module now works with Miva 9. Your configuration settings will not be touched and the module will continue to work as before.

You can make this change before updating to Miva 9 or after - even after you've updated and have gotten the screen asking you enter the license again.

                          Regards,
