    module compatability

I am just starting to investigate the upgrade. Can someone direct me to information on module compatibility?

We have quite a few modules installed and some custom modules. Will these pull into miva9? Or after the upgrade will we revert to a stock store and have to start re-applying the modules (for those that are availability and the companies still around).

    Thanks!

    Re: module compatability

As a rule most (if not all) modules work at a fundamental level just fine in Version 9.

There is one (minor) gotcha and we warn you about it during upgrade if it's going to impact you. There are currently 7 known modules that use an older licensing scheme that expects the Version of Miva Merchant you're running to report back a 5. Once the upgrade is done, since it now reports back a 9, the license for those modules "breaks".

There is a manual work around in the database if you get upgraded and bump into that problem after the fact, and we expect most of those mods to be fixed by their issuer in the next day or so.

      Which modules are these?

I don't personally have it handy, but I'll get someone to post it. The built in Upgrade Advisor checks for them for you and stops install.

I still have customers running Sebenza Category Tree Template , Template Manager Product & Category & Sebenza tools. Will these continue to be fully functional after upgrade to 9?

I'm running those, as well as their Product Reviews module. I'm curious if these will work also, since Sebenza has no customer support at all.

FYI the WolfPaw Fraud Screening and Detection module is popping the following warning:

The Fraud Screening and Detection module must be upgraded to fix a license issue in Version 9.
I've sent an email to them, hopefully they have an update in the works.

I highly recommend transitioning away from these modules Miva Merchant 9 or not. The Sebenza Category Tree Template module is an especially dangerous one, we have seen this take stores down depending on the version/features in use. You should move to the stock category tree capabilities if possible.

The Category Template Manager is no longer available via the Sebenza store as it was showing some bugs with Miva Merchant's new pagination and sorting features. If you haven't transitioned to those new features, it will most likely continue to work for the time being, but again, recommend transitioning if possible.

Certain Sebenza Tools functions will continue to work, but a lot of it can be done with built-in mvt:assign and/or Toolkit for better support.

The Product Template Manager has not been pulled yet, however the only feature it really provides over stock these days is QuickAdd/Multi-Add.

I'm running those, as well as their Product Reviews module. I'm curious if these will work also, since Sebenza has no customer support at all.
The Ratings & Reviews module technically works, it is just lacking in features/solid spam control. You will most likely have some solid replacements in the near future.

I also have another customer running Viking Phone Order Manager.
I don't have any insight on this one, sorry.

I hope so also as this a major setup for us. This alone is enough for me to hold off until the waters clear.

                      Re: module compatability

The Wolfpaw module will be updated in a few days (from what we hear) and in all cases (except ToolBelt) there's an easy manual work around if you need to get to 9 ASAP.

It's not an underlying functionality issue, it's literally a legacy licensing system expecting a 5 and seeing a 9 and getting confused.
                      Thanks,

It appears that Sebenza's Gift Certificate Module may not be functioning since the change; can anyone confirm this?

We specifically tested this module to make sure it didn't break, can you tell me what behavior you're seeing?

Clicked into System Extension Settings and the Gift Certificate module is the first thing visible saying "No records found: MER-DBP-USP-00004" with an open space for license information and the license agreement.

Because I was at home when I discovered this, I did not have the license key available. Hopefully, I still have this at the office somewhere, but it has been a few years on this one, so I will have to do some digging.

To be safe, we disabled the gift certificate area on our website so no more could be purchased until we got this resolved, but I do not have any idea if any of the issued certificates can be redeemed.

We are also using Order Status Manager in our store; with all the changes, is this now an obsolete module? If we disable that module, will everything revert to Miva's own internal customer order history settings?
