    Managing Categories and Subcategories

Just did the upgrade to 9 and have a easy question.
How so I see the Categories and Subcategories structure, So I can visual see what is under what to make edits like in the 5.5 version?

    Thanks

    Stephen,

That doesn't exist like that in 9 currently (it was discovered that people need this late in the Beta cycle), we'll be adding it in an upcoming release.

Great, I look forward to that. I've lost some of my secret and test pages. I didn't name all of my pages properly, so it's been tricky. Aside from that, I'm loving 9!

Thank God, I thought it was just me. I spent some time trying to figure this out. We look forward to that release as well. It's a must have for us as well.

            Thanks

So here's a mockup of what we're thinking. This will go in 9.0001 and should be self explanatory from the screen shot. Thoughts/Feedback?

Well shoot, that Screen shot didn't post as expected. Let me see if I can find another way.

                    I think is will work.

It looks a little complicated or busy, A lot of white across the screen. It was so simple before, click a little (+), and the parent categories are shown, click another (+) and then directly under the parent slightly you had the children. I assume the first column is the parent (Manufacturers), the 2nd is the child “Casablanca Fan”, and the 3rd column must be the child of the child “Casablanca Cosmopolitan Ceiling Fans”.

I would prefer the navigation that is clickable and not mouse hover. Cannot tell from the picture which it is.

Personally I like the side menu navigation, that remained on the screen.

All in all. It looks good. You got our vote

Yeah, the ability to post a screenshot is a bit lacking.

I agree with Kevin. Looks really busy. The simplicity that it was before was elegant, sleek and fast. This though is better than nothing as this ability is so important.

                          Rick,
As already stated in this thread, it is critical to our store/business development that we have single click access to child categories as is currently available in 5.5. If we have a hard stop in less than 90 days to move to MM9, is there an ETA for 9.0001.

If it is something that will be available in the next few weeks to month, no worries; however, if we are looking at a 6 month time frame, everything we do from now until then will be greatly impacted. Please advise what the priority of this update is and will this be available before the deadline to cut over to MM9 so we can test it in a Dev environment before upgrading.

                          Thank you.

                          John

Oh boy, I sort of understood this issue, but I really understand it now that I looked at store with 2000 plus categories. Without some sort of parent / child relationship it's impossible to work with.

Yes, it's slated for the first half of December (we're almost done coding it already).

Also it's worth noting, the screenshot I showed is an on click event, not a hover event.
                              Thanks,
