    Shipping by Dimensional Weight

We hear that in 2015 FedEx and UPS are going to start charging for shipping by dimensional weight (which may be more than actual weight) so we just can't say your 10 pound product is going to cost a 10 pound weight to ship - we have to charge more.

We might charge for 10 pounds for shipping but FedEx or UPS might now charge us for a 15 pound dimensional weight.

    We drop ship from suppliers.

We're a reseller so we don't know the dimensions of the box our products might ship in (but maybe we can find out). We just know how much they tell us it weighs.

Even if we had dimensions, where does that go in Miva? Right now we have "Weight".

Has anybody figured out how to do this?

We have 38,000 products with weights and now we have to add dimensions?

Was this already built in to Miva 9 or potential shipping modules?

    Re: Shipping by Dimensional Weight

Your case is somewhat unique in that you don't have the dimensions of each box. A quick solution if you cannot get the dimensions may be to add a % upcharge to each shipping rate to get it close the the actual cost.

However Miva has had the ability to do dimensional weight calculations for a while now ( it is not specific to Version 9)

If you click the plus next to Shipping Settings you will see "Packaging Rules" Here you can setup different boxes your products ship in an how miva should pack those boxes (by weight or by quantity)

On each product you should have a tab called "Shipping Rules". This is where you can put in the dimensions for each product (This is can also be imported using the standard product import)

Here are some docs on how to use these features (Starting on page 238):
