Re: Google Analytics Stopped tracking : Missing Tracking Code notification in GA

Thanks again, Dan, but I am still a little bit lost with this:

Implement Universal Analytics w/ Ecommerce using either the classic (ga.js) templates (there are two templates under this setting), or the Universal w/ Enhanced Ecommerce template. (this is one template under this setting)
    where are the templates at?

Are they in the Miva Merchant Admin area somewhere?

Or are they in my google analytics admin area?

I am not seeing any templates.

Hoping someone can explain it to me as if I were 5 years old (which is what I often feel like I am ).

      Hey Mark,

I am not seeing any templates.
Google Analytics Templates/Settings are under Utilities within the Miva Merchant admin.

Hoping someone can explain it to me as if I were 5 years old (which is what I often feel like I am ).
Because we do Analytics integrations based on the specific needs/requirements of a given store, not something we would put into a tutorial outside of maybe a broad overview of where things sit and the settings in the Miva admin. I can offer you our integration services at this point if you are interested.

Re: Google Analytics Stopped tracking : Missing Tracking Code notification in GA

I'm going to dog pile onto this. I have store owner that just updated to MM9. He noted that GA wasn't working. I went to take a look and sure enough he's getting a message Status: Tracking Not Installed

I decided to check the site in Google Webmaster Tools and linked it up using Google Analytics. The only issue I encountered while doing this was the snippet (token) needed to be in the <head> tag. Once I moved the token to the head tag, it synced up. I was also able to sync the GWT with the GA account. I figured after I moved the token to the header the status message would change. It didn't. So thinking on the off chance there just might be an issue with the built-in formatting for the snippet, I changed it to the one directly from the GA account. Still no joy in Muddleville.

Leslie, there are most likely other issues, we could diagnose that for you.

Thanks Dan. This should be fairly straight forward. I'm going to keep digging into it. In the grand scheme of things there should be nothing to diagnose. As most store owners would say - "It should just work".

I disagree with "it should just work". Not all Google Analytics integrations are the same, especially when it is an existing/customized store. There may also be some residual tracking snippets from previous integrations/modules.

Re: Google Analytics Stopped tracking : Missing Tracking Code notification in GA

I do agree that not all are the same. In this case, I'm trying to get just the basic tracking code as provided by Google Analytics to work and make the message go away.

It would seem that if I view the Real Time tracking it is picking up visitors. So even though that particular section of the Google Analytics Admin is showing that it's not installed each time it checks for it, something is being captured. This might be a question better asked of Google.

Re: Google Analytics Stopped tracking : Missing Tracking Code notification in GA

After some work on figuring this out, it appears that the code that calls the mvga.js script has to be in the head code on every page you want tracked for enhanced ecommerce. The regular universal.js script works without it but if it's not there, the ecommerce script is not sent to Google.

In my case the code was put in the head field on the Settings page. Unfortunately my site ignores that and has custom coded pages and product and category templates from Sebenza. So I had to add it to the templates and all of our customized pages.
