    Hero image slider

Can the Hero Image be (easily) turned into a slider?

Leslie, Have you had any luck with the slider yet? I am thinking about looking into it too.

Not yet Jim, I was hoping for something easy to add on. Would really make a cool ReadyTheme feature to be able to upload the slides along with the paths to link them to.

I would also love to see this feature. But in the meantime, is it easier to allow the image to be an image map?

That's a good question - I think you might have to not use the ReadyTheme function, then you could just insert it as HTML with the image mapping code.

How do you turn off the ReadyTheme function? Won't that affect the whole site? Would the code go in the content section of the home page?

              Re: Hero image slider

You don't turn off the ReadyTheme function - you just don't use the token

              Code:
              <mvt:item name="readytheme" param="image( 'sfnt_hero' )" />
The code is the Global Header.

(I needed to update this, I had the wrong token/location)

                Re: Hero image slider

I finally found a fairly simple Slider solution for the Suivant theme using CSSSLIDY available here: https://github.com/dudleystorey/CSSslidy . Here is what it looks like on my site: http://dev.coffeehouseexpress.com/.

So basically what I did was create a new page and inserted only the CSSSLIDY code and then used the toolkit "render" function to replace the Ready Theme "sfnt_hero" item in the Global header with the page I had just created.

OK - I've got that more or less in place. Can you tell me what the dimensions of the hero image are?

Thanks Jim - I opted to just replace the sfnt_hero token with the image div. Guess we need to go over to the wish list forum and tell them to add something like this into the ReadyTheme functions - be able to load up some images, link them if we want to and then just place a token.

ps...you dev site is looking fantastic! Stay caffeinated my friend ;)

Thanks Leslie! Yea, that might be easier to just stick the image div in place of the sfnt_hero token .

I'm sorry I don't to copy but I have to ask you a few questions just so I do not reinvent the wheel.

I see you have changed the color of the footer and your top menus have a gradient. I also see by the footer a nice gradient with coffee beans...

I would love you to direct me in the correct direction so I could do something similar. I know I asked alot in one shot
but you seem passionate about it and I am completely new but have some HTML understanding.

                            Thank you.
