PowerSearch from Emporium Plus - Module Issue

    Hi Miva Members,

I decided to switch from MMUI Miva9 to CSSUI Miva 9. I have been using MIVA for nearly 15 years and never had so many issues. Support from MIVA keep on telling me it is what I am doing, but it is hard to believe when I previously never had issues doing the same simple task in previous versions of MIVA. For example, I tried installing the Powersearch module from Emporium Plus and keep getting an error that reads mysql_execute: Table 's01_PowerSearchProducts' already exists. They told me to update to the latest version, which I did but I am still having the same issue.

This Powersearch module issue has been over a week now and MIVA support is very slow to respond or fix the issue. They try to move me over to professional services and charge me for something so simple such as duplicating CTGY pages and PROD pages. I finally got it working, but such things as duplicating a page shouldn't require special services. Just forget about the Point and Click mode. It simply doesn't work. I am wondering if anyone feel the same way.

If you are having issues, I would like to hear about it so we can let the MIVA developers know. I would like them to provide a better solution. If you are new to MIVA, good luck trying to use it.

    Thanks!
    Keith

Re: PowerSearch from Emporium Plus - Module Issue

As a free-lancer, I have one foot on each side of this issue. I sometimes turn to Miva support for help with a project, but I also know what it's like to have customers who expect to pay for something once, and get all kinds of ongoing support for no extra charge.

I don't know the details of your situation, and I won't claim that Miva is perfect. But I do know that I've written to tech support many times over the years, asking them to do some kind of specialized service on a site, and adding, "If this costs extra, that's fine, send me a bill." But they never do. I have no complaints about the amount of free service my clients and I receive.

        Hi Keith,

I'll go dig through my emails, I think I've had this issue come up before. I'm thinking this was something that support has fixed for me in the past. Hopefully Bill will pop in and post a fix.

My apologizes my issue was the opposite (and was back in 2013):
          Runtime error in Merchant2/5.00/modules/util/powrsrch.mvc @ [00000029:000001ae]: powrsrch.mv: Line 4622: MvQUERY: mysql_stmt_prepare: Table 'store_mm5.s01_PowerSearchProducts' doesn't exist Runtime error in Merchant2/5.00/modules/util/powrsrch.mvc @ [00000029:00000550]: powrsrch.mv: Line 4671: MvQUERY: mysql_stmt_prepare: Table 'store_mm5.s01_PowerSearchProducts' doesn't exist
I'm still digging to see how this was resolved, but it was probably Bill that helped me.

            Hi Leslie,
Thanks for responding to my post. I did get the same error initially. Then after several attempts, I got the reverse error. Just a bit strange. If you can a solution, I would be grateful. Appreciate your time.
