    Re: Administrator versus Regular Users

We also held off updating because of the holiday season, and then our 12th anniversary. In the end the upgrade was a big nothing, it was completed in a just a few minutes and there were absolutely no issues. The biggest issue is how different the admin interface is, the loss of the left navigation menu takes some getting used to. But we took a crash course and poked around a bit to find that the way we worked with each functional page was pretty much the same, and some of the interface tools and widgets are nicer than they were previously.

      Re: Administrator versus Regular Users

I've searched the forum, reference guide, articles, and emails, and I can't figure out how to limit sessions. Help?
And among all of the new information now overflowing my brain from all this reading is that when I do get limitations in place, if I'm logged in, the next user bumps me off and can log in, rather than having to wait until I log out? Isn't that completely backwards? Or did I misunderstand?

        Elisabeth,

Are you on Version 9? If so you don't have to do anything, it's automatic.

Another user can bump you out, but it's not automatic. They have to close you out to bump you. They will see that you are logged in if the "seat is occupied". I strongly recommend that anyone needing to log into the admin have their own user name - this way you can identify who is logged in if you need to get in and someone else is already there. It really helps especially if there are number of additional seats being used. Having 6 people all logged in as "admin" (not a recommended user name by the way) makes it tough to reach out and say "hey I need to get in for a few minutes" when you don't know who to reach out to.

              Elisabeth,

Perhaps for some comfort in this move my Lingerie site is still on MMUI and was built in the miva 3 days. Its still at this time is MMUI and is riddled with Mods from the old days to the current. I was concerned when I updated to 9 but ill tell ya it went extremely well with no issues. I just state this in the hopes it may ease your mind on the move. The toughest thing has been getting used to the new interface. Being old school here it was quite the learning curve, yet that is getting easier now also utilizing bookmarks etc. Anyways just wanted to drop my 2 cents in the hopes that the upgrade process will be a bit easier for those on the fence who may be worried or concerned.
