    Assiging Modules to the Store

I recently added (or wanted to add) the Emporium Plus Template Data feed module and this would be my first Miva 9 module installation.

I was able to upload the module by going to Modules and Add a Module (the + box).

Then I could not figure out how to assign it to the store like we used to in Miva 5 (Utilities, check the box, Update).

I searched the Miva 9 PDF for 'add module' and 'add modules' and came up dry.

Figuring it must be somewhere under Utilities, searched the PDF for 'utilities' and found nothing about how to assign a module to the store.

Then I searched the PDF for 'add/remove modules' but not sure how I came up with that - seen it somewhere and came up with Shipping Modules, Payment Gateways, Payment Methods, etc. but all I want to do is assign a module to the store.

Then in the PDF I stumbled across 'Adding Third-Part Modules' and it says:

Per the modules install instructions, click on the appropriate section(s) in your Admin Menu and check off the module to assign it to the store clicking Update each time.

So far, every third party module I have seen (including the Miva eBay Marketplaces module) only has instructions for Miva 5.x and nothing for Miva 9. Let me tell you things are quite a bit different in the eBay modules between the video tutorial (which makes it seem so easy) and Miva 9.

It doesn't help to say 'refer to the modules install instructions' when so far all the instructions are for Miva 5.x (including Marketplace).

For example the Emporium Plus documentation says this is how to install the Data Feed module:

    Install exprodf.mvc
    1) In admin, click Add Modules link (fig 2)
    2) Click the file upload button
    3) Browse to find the exprodf.mvc file on your hard drive and upload (fig 3)
    4) Click Add to add it to the domain
    5) Then in admin click on the plus to the left of Stores
    6) Click the plus to the left of your store name
    7) Click on the word Utilities under your store (fig 4)
    8) Check the box next to the Template Data Feed
    9) Click Update
    10) Click on System Extension Settings link
    11) Check the box next to the Template Data Feed if it is not already checked
    12) Click Update

That's not how it works at all.

It was not until I opened a support ticket that I discovered the 'Add/Remove Modules' section under Utilities but that did not make sense to me when I first looked at it since I simply want to assign a module to the store - not Add/Remove a module. So obvious to me now (I guess).

Since Miva customers are 'required' to upgrade to Miva 9, is Miva (as a company) committed to updating their own documentation/tutorials/videos and also requiring their third party developers to update their old 5.X documentation to be compatible with Miva 9?

Re: Assiging Modules to the Store

We're in the process of updating all of our docs, although we'll only be updating a handful of the Emporium Plus module docs as most of those are reaching EOL.

The final 9.x Reference Guide is going to be near 1,000 pages, so it's a slow process.

Will there or has there been a list released of the EmporiumPlus modules that are reaching EOL?

Re: Assiging Modules to the Store

I hope it is not the Template Data Feed which took me a day to first figure out (get a reply) about how to assign it to the store and then 2 more days (or was it three) to figure out the "secret" to that thing to generate a file:

        http://extranet.miva.com/forums/show...d-Party-Module

Had there been documentation, I would have been done Monday instead of Thursday.

The replies are much faster in the community!

The only things being EOL'd (and I'll have Brennan get an accurate list) are features that are now built in, like coupons.

So until we add our own data feed manager, template data feed will be supported and maintained.
