Email typos causing customer service issues

We are trying to solve an ongoing issue that comes from typographical issues when a customer enters their email address.

If a typo occurs, then the customer doesn't receive their order confirmation, shipping confirmation, etc. This results in the customer being unhappy and they typically have to call us to find out the status of their order.

Is there a way to easily add a second email field in which the customer has to enter their email address a second time and those two fields must match in order to proceed?

This can be easily be added with a couple hours of JavaScript. You probably don't need to save the second email field, so it would all be front end only.

You would add a new field to the form under the email field and add a JavaScript to compare the two and ensure they are identical.
