    Print with Dymo LabelWriter 4XL?

Should I be able to print my USPS Priority shipping labels using a Dymo Labelwriter 4XL thermal printer or did I just waste $200?

I've never tested one, we just Zebra ZP450's in house for testing.

Does it support ZPL as a format?

I'm not sure. I assumed that since Endicia is now integrated into Miva that this sort of thing was already sorted.
Here is where I bought it:

Endicia is in the process of being sold and will no longer be part of Dymo.

Our integration is with Endicia Label Server and has nothing to do with Dymo printers.

I'd personally suggest returning it and getting one of the zebra zp450's since that's what we test on internally and they're about the same price or less on eBay.

Ok...I'm much closer using a Zebra LP2844 printer.
I can get the label to print. However, I keep getting a "PREVIEW" across my labels.

Also, the little "print" button in the upper right corner, along with the pull-down carrot doesn't do anything. If I right-click in that black bar and hit print in the menu that comes up, I am able to print that way.

So the question now is, how do I get rid of that "PREVIEW" and make the "print" button work?

The Preview and the Zebra are two totally different things. Zebra prints ZPW (which is a raw format). So the Preview is just so you can see it.

Are you on a Mac or a PC? It's likely an outdated Java issue.

Probably need supports help, I'll ask them to chime in. Java can be a beast.

                    Hello,

Is your printer the LP2844 or LP2844-z? The LP2844 wont work with Miva, because it actually doesnt use ZPL II. ZPL is the printer language and ZPL II is the newer version of it; that is what ours is written to use. So what is likely the reason that you are printing with the Preview on it, is you are actually just printing the page from a browser. Are you printing by pressing CTRL + P? What should happen is the upper right corner should let you choose your printer, and then click print, and it will print a label without the Preview on it.

                    Thanks,

Ok, taking another stab at it with a Zebra ZP450. Still having the same problem that I was having with the LP2844. Unable to chose printer in upper right corner. Unable to print to ZP450.
Perhaps you could recommend a driver? Tried the one off of the Zebra website and it doesn't seem to want to play with Miva. I can print through Endicia's Dazzle software, no problem.

I'd call support, this is likely not going to be unwound via the Forums. They'll probably need to remote into your computer. My guess is it has something to do with Java Security Settings.
                        Thanks,

                          Hello,

I can help you fix it in support. Please either create a ticket by emailing [email protected] and put attention Chris. Then I will call you. Or just call into support. This is something that we will just need to have your site added to your exception list within Java.

                          Thanks,

                            Hello,

Just a quick reply to this post. The steps that we provided to unabiker fixed the issue he was having with his thermal printing functionality.

Using a printer with ZPLII language; in this case the ZP-450.

                            Manage the Exception Site List

The exception site list is managed in the Security tab of the Java Control Panel. The list is shown in the tab. To add, edit or remove a URL from list, Click Edit Site List and follow the directions shown.

                            Add a URL

                            • Click on the Edit Site List button.
                            • Click the Add in the Exception Site List window.
                            • Click in the empty field under Location field to enter the URL.
                              Example: https://www.domain.com/mm5/admin.mvc?
                            • Click OK to save the URL that you entered.
                            • Click Continue on the Security Warning dialog.

                            Thanks,

The LP2844 uses EPL2 programming language. I believe Miva supports only ZPL ii programming language? I discovered this as a client has that printer and we were trying to set it up in Miva. It is old anyway.

                              Thanks,
