Customer File Upload in Account Creation Page

I am trying to provide our pre-approved customers to upload their business id in image form when they create an account on the ACAD page

I created a custom customer Image field. Will this work or Do I have to use server side like PHP

I have a module that can do the upload. It's actually designed for a two-step process: first the customer creates the account, and then they upload an image on the ACED page. But I can modify it to work on ACAD. You can drop me a line by email to discuss it in detail.
