    PayPal Security Upgrades

We received an email from PayPal today about upcoming security updates to their platform. They're encouraging merchants to make the following changes to their PayPal integration:

    1. Discontinue use of the VeriSign G2 Root Certificate
    2. Update your integration to support certificates using the SHA-256 algorithm

Will the PayPal module included in Miva 9 need revisions to address this?

The modules will not require updating.

        Re: PayPal Security Upgrades

I plan to upgrade to SHA-256 when I renew my certificate later this year.

SHA1 will be deprecated in by the end of 2015. What it means is devices older that Windows XP SP2 or OS X 10.5 (not iOS) will not be able to validate the new certificate.

I checked my GA and this may affect about 3% of my users both as Visitors and Conversions. (I'm not sure if they are on SP3 or less)

Will those 3% users be able to check-out after I upgrade to SHA-256?

          Re: PayPal Security Upgrades

XP users using Firefox or Chrome should have no issue. XP users using an old version of IE already can't check out on your site, so nothing to worry about. :-)
