    Test PayPal

Anyone know of a way to test PayPal, I have been getting some feedback from customers that it isn't working correctly.

If you need to test the complete path, the only real way I know is too either borrow a friends account or use a personal PP account and check out. Might want to set a test product with no weight so your fees don't start adding up.

I find it odd there is no sandbox method. I guess I need to go your route.

Yea, that would be cool, there is a test mode, but its (as far as I know) not 'gatable'.

What problems are they having? Is there a pattern of browser or OS? Region?

          Re: Test PayPal

I had an if/else statement to show or hide certain payment options based upon international or different shipping and billing addresses. When customers selected PayPal it would show all of the payment options and not just PayPal so it confused them.

I have a completely different international issue where the address isn't working correctly. it wants something in the other/international field but the fields are not editable.

They do have a sandbox and you can test in it, but it's not always the exact same as live. Just google PayPal Sandbox and setup an account and use those credentials.

But you can't really do that when the site is already live right? Meaning, you can't have say just "this" IP using the sandbox (like our <mvt:item name="plug" param="Developer Sandbox module" /> :) )

I have a couple of development stores so I will try it there. I have tried to use the sandbox account before on other platforms and it never worked.

Bruce is correct, you'd need to test it on a dev site. Make sure your dev site has an SSL configured, that might be why it's never worked.

I will make sure it has ssl setup. I tested it on a completely different platform maybe that is why it didn't work...

can anyone tell me the variable that is used on that payment/shipping page so that I could write an if/else if they have gotten to the page through the Paypal express checkout.

                        Re: Test PayPal

I figured out the issue with a little help from a customer. it turns out that PayPal works exactly how it should but the PayPal credit doesn't. If the customer selects that then it gives them all of the payment options on the credit card drop down, which is clearly confusing. if anyone knows how to know if they are using PayPal credit on the payment/shipping screen that would be great, that way I could hide everything but PayPal with an if/else.

I just use my personal PP account. Then issue refunds. The fees get refunded as well far as I know. That's what it shows anyway.

IIRC PayPal refunds fees if a charge is refunded within a short window of time. After that time, you pay.
