    In Admin Error Notification

The in admin Error Notification is pretty cool:

Any way to have something like this automatically ping the host to make them aware of the issue?

    Re: In Admin Error Notification

That's an odd error to see given the fact that if the store's database server host is not resolvable, the store should not be working at all. For performance reasons, you should also avoid having a store connect to a mysql server by name; ideally it should use IP or 'localhost' so a lookup is not done with each new connection. If it is using a name, it could go in the system's "hosts" file, but in this case the error is that it cannot resolve the name, so we know it's trying to do something that connects by name and is not making use of a static hosts file entry.

In any case, to answer your question, the software currently does not send us notifications when errors occur. I'm not sure if we'd want it to do that given the fact that there's tens of thousands of active stores out there and it's easy for store admins to make changes that would cause errors, so it could trigger a massive flood of tickets for things we have no control over.
