Is This Still The Correct Way To Convert an MMUI Store To A CSSUI Store?

There is a post by Brennan on how to convert an MMUI store to CSSUI store here:

    http://www.miva.com/blog/how-to-conv...merchant-store

Does the info in that still apply when converting from MM5 PR8 to a CSSUI MM9 Ready Theme (Suivant) store when it comes to importing the Customer, Orders, and payments?

Also, since I used the standard MM product export and import functions (the ones in the Utilities section of the admin), will the ID numbers be the same in both stores? Or will I need to delete all the row and then copy over the database tables for the products and categories?

    Thanks in advance.

I have also been wondering about converting the store as we have had our store with Miva for more than a decade.

Is there a way in Miva 9 to try edits and redesigns without taking down the live store? I would like to try messing with Ready Themes, but I am afraid of breaking my website to test them out. If I were able to play around with the themes for a while to test them out, it would give me time to create a working interface while not sacrificing downtime for our busy online store.

For the most part I recommend having a dev site set up to work with and play around with the ReadyTheme. You could also check out Phosphor Media's Developer Sandbox http://www.phosphormedia.com/product/pm_sandbox.html. Bruce can give more detail on how best to attempt using a ReadyTheme with it.

Yes, Sandbox is a great tool for trying out changes to an existing web site without the extra work and cost of running a dev version of your site. However, since using a "ReadyTheme" replaces EVERY existing template in your site with a new one, it would take a lot of work to use Sandbox for this. (Although this scenario does beg the question of whether we can programmatically do this so it would be the go to way of checking out a ReadyTheme.)
