Anyone Tried the MMUI to CSSUI conversion tool yet?

Just wondering if anyone has tried the MMUI to CSSUI tool on any of their stores yet, and if so, how it went.

I know there are no guarantees to the success fo the tool - and I know that it is my repsonsibility to back up first.

I just hope that it is somewhat straightforward. I have my new MM9 store with a suivant ready them set up as a development store, and I would like to convert my live MMUI store to CSSUI as soon as I can.

    Thanks in advance.

    And more questions:

My MMUI store is still on MM5 PR8, update 12

    Question 1:

Do I need to upgrade the MMUI store to MM9 MMUI before doing the backup of the conversion to CSSUI?

    Question 2:

My CSSUI development store already has lots of modifications to the templates (it is based on the suivant ready theme).

Will all those modifications be wiped out if I run the MMUI to CSSUI tool?

In the documentation, I am not sure which store it is referring to (the live MMUI store or the development CSSUI store I have been editing templates on for the last two months):
In Step 2 you will be working on your Development store and you will completely wipe out the look and feel of your site with the new MMUI to CSSUI Conversion Tool.
Which site exactly will be wiped out?

Is there any way to save all the work I have been doing on my development store for the last two months????

    Thanks!

Where did you get the tool? Sorry, I don't have answers for you.

Nevermind, found it in the miva app store. I'll be trying it out, too, so I'll probably have the same questions as you. http://apps.miva.com/product/MIVA-MMUI-TO-CSSUI.html

I believe so, but I'm waiting on an answer from Dev.

The only site that'll be wiped out is the site you run the tool on. So if you already have a CSSUI Ready Theme Dev site going no reason you can't keep building that because there's no reason to run the tool on that site.

When you're ready to "flip" though, you'll run the tool on your live site and everything on your live site (as far as page templates go) will be wiped out.
            Thanks,

Reading through the PDF that came with the tool, can you confirm that it does NOT retain content in the Header and Footers of any additional Pages?

                Mark,

This is what I got back from Dev and covers the idea that you started your Dev store before the tool came out, here's what they say/recommend:

Yes, mmui2cssui only works on MM9.

Creating a framework from their current dev store (the Suivant variant) should be able to be re-applied to the upgraded store.

When we recommend "the development store", we were expecting a blank store.

A second dev site would be my recommendation:

o Back up production to the second dev store.
                o Upgrade it to MM9.
                o cssui2mmui it.
o Export a framework from the Suivant variant store, and apply it to the second dev store.
                o Test, etc.
                o Move to production.
                Thanks,

                  Leslie,

I asked Dev for you and this is the reply:

yes, only category and product headers and footers are preserved, as are category titles

And I "assume" the orders aren't coming along for the ride either?

That is not true. In fact any data not related to the UI is specifically preserved, that's the whole point of the module.

Okay cool! Just trying to make I'm square on all the data that will be preserved. Product/Category Header/Footers are a huge plus along with all the Customer Order Data. Now I've got to find an MMUI store that I haven't already converted by hand

                          @ Rick:

                          Thanks for the clarification.

I assume when they say "cssui to mmui it" they actually mean mmui to cssui it.

And I am assuming that means when they create this development store, it should be in MMUI, so that the latest orders, customer, and other information will be included???

When they create the development store, can they include all my product / category data as well so that I don't have to re-import it?

Also, when it comes to "moving it (the development store) to production, that is something that Miva would have to do, right?

                          Thanks in advance.

I think a lot of your questions are answered in the video tutorial on using the tool:
