    Re: Anyone Tried the MMUI to CSSUI conversion tool yet?

    Ok, firstly, that video is very helpful and is a MUST WATCH for anyone contemplating doing this, because it isn't quite as intuitive as one might hope it would be.

    the other thing is, it would be GREAT if there was a way to post a printed transcript from the video online. there are quit a few steps and suggestions, and I think having a printed version of the transcript would be very helpful.

    Maybe there is a copy of the script in a word file on the computers at Miva World Headquarters that was used by whoever was narrating the video???

      Re: Anyone Tried the MMUI to CSSUI conversion tool yet?

      After talking to tech support, I would like to ask:

      is it possible to move from MMUI to the CSSUi without (in my case) having to create a THIRD store? (a second dev store to go along with my one dev store and my live MMUI store)?

      Can I just take my current dev store (which is MM9, Suivant Ready them, many template mods already made), export that framework, run the MMUI to CSSUI converter (which I think would "clear out" that Dev store), apply the generic Suivant ready them framework, and then apply my customized framework (which I had saved and exported earlier)???

      ~~~~
      Otherwise, should I just use the copy mysql tables method (listed somewhere on the miva.com site - need to find it) to move the live store info over to my development store?
        I would NOT recommend moving the databases yourself. It's never 'quite' that simple and any error is generally catastrophic...heck, I even hate doing it (and no, not volunteering cause, see previous reason).
          Re: Anyone Tried the MMUI to CSSUI conversion tool yet?
          I'm in the midst of it. I am always up for a challenge, however I was hoping that the challenge would be somewhere after the first step :D . After I ran the wizard I got a fatal error message - (category tree was in active). I'm guessing all of these old mmui coded stores (mine included) are going to have a variety of issues, few of which may be predictable. Old stores like mine have been coded by multiple people at varying times over the years and patched up here and there to make the "look and feel".
          I wonder if it would be helpful to start a thread of error messages and fixes. ...I 'm not sure how many of us dinosaur mmui sites there are?
          I know there are no guarantees to the success fo the tool - and I know that it is my repsonsibility to back up first.
          I just hope that it is somewhat straightforward. I have my new MM9 store with a suivant ready them set up as a development store, and I would like to convert my live MMUI store to CSSUI as soon as I can.
          Thanks in advance.
            Can find MMUI wizard after upload
            I uploaded the MMUI 2 conversion tool on my dev store and then tried to search for the wizard and I can't find it.
                  DHESS was the person who posted after you.
                  Terri you should open a support ticket.
                        You need to be logged as the "manager" user in order to see/use the conversion wizard. Click on Store Settings and you will see the user designated the store manager. Log Out and log back in as this user then search for the tool and it show up.
                            I used it last week on a really old site. Was even just recently converted from Mivasql to Mysql. Worked flawlessly. I've done quite a few manual MMUI > CSSUI conversions and they're very tedious. This tool is Friggin' Awesome!
                            No Need to fear, just back up your backup.
                              Worked really well. The only issue I had was trying to discover why Suivant wasn't working properly, having installed the base framework then our customized framework. Turned out that the body tag was never updated in the process of converting from MMUI nor installing the frameworks.
                                I had that same issue. It was a head scratcher for a bit... I think this is a bug of some sort. It's happened to enough people by now.
