2 Questions About Domain Backup Module

This is regarding the Domain Backup module:
    http://apps.miva.com/product/MIVA-DOMAIN-BACKUP.html

    1. Once I have a backup copy, how do I restore from that backup? (Not mentioned in the install docs)
    2. After generating a backup, the docs say to delete the backup files from the server. Where are those located?

    Thanks,
    Mark

The restore is done manually by extracting the tar file on the computer it's on, or another and uploading the files. The SQL dump file would be imported via command line or a control panel web interface. Keep in mind that on large sites, these files can be huge, and they should never be left on the server after generating them.

Thanks. So where are these files located? I would like to delete them now.

Typically in what would be accessible as /private/mivadata/ There may be some temp files that start with a period too, so check that your SFTP/SSH/FTP client is set to display hidden files as some don't by default.

Ah ha! I didn't think of that, no wonder. Thanks. Found the files and deleted them.

Re: 2 Questions About Domain Backup Module

Is it possible (or even feasible) to create a domain backup of our live site and use it to copy over to update our dev site vs having to submit a ticket to have it copied over as we've done in the past? Or not such a hot idea?

It's certainly possible and feasible. I wouldn't recommend the other direction (Dev to Live), but as long as you can live with the risk of screwing up your Dev site, Live to Dev should be fine.
