spontaneously changed inventory

Has anybody experienced products spontaneously going from sold or out of stock to in-stock?
I have a customer that has experienced this twice.

Only when deleting baskets and not accounting for dead basket inventory.

I don't think it can be dead baskets since the items have in fact sold.
It happened again yesterday.
The situation: I have a client that sells one-of-a-kind jewelry (PaulaMontgomery.com). She's using the Suivant ReadyTheme. When an item sells, she unassigns it from what category it was in, and assigns it to a category called Sold. That way, people can see stuff that she's made. She's using Miva's built-in inventory. Yesterday, several items that sold, all of a sudden went from an inventory of zero to an inventory of 1.

You should open a ticket, we'll probably need to look at the logs or try and recreate it.
