Burning an HTML copy of store to disk

A Miva store was sold to a new owner. The new owner contacted me and requested that I send him an HTML copy of the store. Would using Merchant Optimizer be the best way to handle this? Are there any second choice options?

    Thanks,
    Leslie

Yes, Optimizer would be one way to get most of the site as a set of static files, there would be some dynamic pages (such as account, basket, etc) that wouldn't be there, and you'd need to copy over images (or let them be called directly from a live site) and change the base ref if you want to be able to view those files offline..

Thanks Bruce, you just opened up another round of issues that I'm going to have to explain to the store owner - none of the checkout pages would be included. He needs everything.

In that case, we're having a special this week on "Absorbitol". The only safe effective way to reduce the painful inflammation from unreasonable clients :)

We are working on a vaccine that will instantly allow clients to understand what the word "dynamic" and "web site" actually mean...but we don't expect to be finished with clinical trails until we can get the research pigs airborne.

I'd give him a zip file with a copy of all the site files and a database dump, along with an explanation that what he's been given is only usable on a server configured to run Miva Merchant.

I do appreciate the humor, I too laughed, but I think I still have a couple more questions to ask the store owner (or perhaps the previous store owner that has sold the website) to understand the need to operate under these constraints. There is a lot more to this tale than I'm obviously letting on.

In the grand scheme of things, he may need my services a lot more than most.

yea, there seems to be a major disconnect somewhere.

Here's a fun (or not so fun) thought:

Create a USB flash drive with a portable WAMP, MAMP or LAMP server (Apache, MySQL and PHP, for Windows, Mac or Linux, respectively) and have the database and script files along with Empresa. Not a small task, but it would be the most effective way that I know to make it fully available yet not need a running host. I loved how easy Miva Mia was back in the day, but was bummed when you couldn't easily run MySQL on top of it.
