    Special Characters and Suivant Ready Theme

    Hi all;

    tried to write the word:

    appliqué

    In a product description, and it showed up as:

    appliqu

    Any suggestions on what I need to do o get it to show the accented e character instead of a question mark in a diamond?

      Hi Mark, Leslie's solution should work. The issue is the character set used by the underlying database the store runs off of; the default character set is UTF8, so the only characters that can be stored are shown here http://www.fileformat.info/info/charset/UTF-8/list.htm I'm guessing the accented e likely differs in some way from the c3a9 character shown on that page; perhaps just an issue of whatever application you pasted it in from. In any case, it's always best to represent any non-ascii character with the html code equivalent so it displays properly in every browser, as some visitors may have different character sets for their given browser.

        And, in future when in doubt about these characters, there is a beautiful tool that converts special characters into encoded HTML, http://www.unicodetools.com/unicode/convert-to-html.php

            Thank you so much, Leslie, David, and Rajnishi.

            I used Leslie's solution and it worked perfectly.

            Thanks again, everyone.
