Uploading and Assigning Image Paths to Image Machine

Hi all, I'm hoping someone may have a solution to this...

We have a bunch of products that have images assigned to them but the images themselves are not assigned to "type" (main through 10). I am able to create a list of all products and their images (using template data feed) but when we attempt to upload (via upload/update csv) miva creates a duplicate of the image path instead of assigning the current image to the type. I hope that makes sense. Does anyone know how we can bulk assign the existing images to image types without creating duplicates?

I didn't try it but think remove using bulk upload (blank main image field) and then upload with the image path in the image field. Be aware the images must reside in the graphics folder.
