Inventory Issue : sold items returning to stock

We are having a problem where items that are sold out or manually set to zero are returning to stock. Can anyone suggest how or why this might be happening?

If you had inventory tied up in baskets, set it to zero, then deleted expired baskets, that could have recovered inventory. A third party module restock shelves could do the same, without manual activity.

We are in fact running a restock module. What do you recommend in avoiding this issue?

The only way to fully avoid the issue is to put your store in Maintenance mode, delete all baskets (not just expired ones) and make sure your inventory is 100% accurate.

        Then go forward from there.

Thanks Rick. We only typically have one of each item. Often clients will start an order then call to complete the order over the telephone. In this scenario, we need to manually take the item out of stock. We do this by reducing the inventory number to zero. Sometimes it comes back into stock. I assume this is when the shopping cart times out. If we, instead of making it -1, make it -2, would this prevent restocking?

Also, while I have you online, I never heard back regarding my price review request? What happened?

Email me about your price stuff, it should've been handled by now.

As for your inventory yes if you set it to 0, but there's 1 in a basket, when that basket is "recovered", it'll make it +1.

So you'd want to set it to -1, not 0.
