    .htaccess & 404 redirect in MM9

On the old website I had a physical ".htaccess" file to work from. Now that portion is managed for me in MM9 but my problem seems to be that URL management is not redirecting my old dead links to the new links under the new structure.

I can hardcode it in the HTACCESS file but I do not know where it is in the file system on the site.

When I attempted to add my own HTACCESS file to the server it drowned my site. Is there a way to manage the MM9 HTACCESS file to add my entries or another solution?

URI management still uses an .htaccess file. It should be in your web root. You can do exactly what you had setup before, just make sure the code Miva has added to the file is at the end of the file. This is what allows URI Management to work.

I found the file. Dreamweaver was hiding it. Thanks for your help.

I think you'd be better off adding the old links back in via the uri management than loading up the .htaccess; you can make the store issue 301's back to the relevant new links if the old links are accessed.

Is there a tutorial for that?

The tutorial for "How to migrate ..." fit pretty well how to do it.

Thanks for the link. After reading through the tutorial I can confirm all of this had already been done. This site's URI structure never changed. There are no "old links" to add back.

I guess I was looking for a way to edit the .htaccess file via the admin.

Our Edit This module actually had that feature developed, but we pulled it due to extreme liability issues. It was too easy to potentially block even admin access, which would mean there was no recovery outside of contacting your host.
