Iron & Wool Checkout Page Not Found issues

Store owner is reporting that numerous customers are calling to report that they are getting a "Page can not be displayed, please check the web address" when clicking the Checkout link in either the mini-basket drop down or on the BASK screen. At first they said it was primarily Safari users. Now it seems to be IE 10 users too. I can't duplicate the error in any of the browsers I have. Maybe more eyes can see find it.

    Thanks,

    Hey Leslie,

I would bet that this isn't a page not found issue but is a cannot establish a secure connection issue. On a number of sites at work as we've updated our SSL Certs we've been getting this complaint from customers, that they can't check out. The browser and/or OS are not compatible with the latest, soon to be required for PCI compliance, security protocols. Use the latest version of Firefox or Chrome. Sometimes IE cannot be updated due to the OS version, same with Safari. I have an old version of Safari on a PC at work that will fail this test. I'll check my theory on Monday.

Here's a blurb I wrote up about it on our FAQ page with some links to test your browser etc. http://www.gpencil.com/FAQS.php

      Hey Leslie,

This is the issue. I switched the home page to https and received this error.

      Safari can’t open the page.
Safari can’t open the page https://www.calendarcompany.com/ because Safari can’t establish a secure connection to the server “www.calendarcompany.com”.

That's interesting. I can open the site in Safari without any such warning.

Re: Iron & Wool Checkout Page Not Found issues

I have an old version of Safari installed which doesn't support TLS 1.2, v5.0.2.

Here's some more info on browser support: https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/clients.html

I believe the issue with the newer SSL certificates is that they are removing support for SSL 3 and TLS 1.0 due to vulnerability issues. This means that people running old software, or old hardware, really need to update or they're not going to be able to use any secure connections on the internet soon.

Maybe David Hubbard can chime in with a better explanation.
