    HTTP/2 Support?

    Miva,

What's the status on support (current or planned) for HTTP/2? I've had a couple of customers contact me asking about it. They are reading it on the SEO sites, such as:

    http://searchengineland.com/everyone...g-http2-236716

I did a little research of my own (since I'm only heard the term and don't know much beyond that) and read this:
    http://daniel.haxx.se/blog/2015/03/3...ttp2-adoption/
which talks about an Apache mod (still in alpha at the time of writing) and that Nginx plans to release support by the end of the year.

Will Miva's servers support this? Will it be a default or will we need to request it? Is there a way for us to tell whether a server is using HTTP/2 or not?

I know this is early but I'd like to give an intelligent response to the customers who've asked as well as any others who may do so.

    Thank you,
    Susan Petracco

    Re: HTTP/2 Support?

We won't likely support it prior to it being released in a web server (nginx or apache) package that RedHat maintains, so that we can rely on their security team and compatibility testing. If you want SPDY support now, Cloudflare offers that on their Pro ($20/mo) and above plans. They also don't support HTTP/2 yet since, like us, they also use nginx and the http/2 code is not considered mature at this time given it was only released two months ago. It also, currently, requires the server operator choose between spdy and http/2, and more support exists for spdy currently.
