Discount Percent Off Subtotal By Category by Emporium Plus

Is there a way to assign a 5% discount to all the products in a category in Miva 9 w/o using the emporium plus module?

Miva's built in discounting system can handle this. You would create a new price group with the discount type of "Product Discount" and give it a 5% discount.

Then when selecting products you can use the advanced search to find all products in a specific category, select all and add them to the group.

As you add new products to the category you will need to also add them to the price group to keep them in sync.

I'd like to revisit this - is this still the only way to offer a Category wide discount? There still isn't a way to set this at the Category level? It gets a bit cumbersome with there may be a couple hunder products in the category.

As I understand this, its only one extra step (with about 5 to 6 clicks) to do this. Since you have to assigned to a category anyway (the one that gets the discount), this seems doable. Unless, your client wants to have Category A on discount one week (or day) and Category B the next...and then they answer is, ah, not so easy. Otherwise, you'd have to use the old method of both organizing the products for discount (discount by category) AND providing the discount.
