    Quickbooks and Miva

My client has Quickbooks Point of Sale. I did look through the information on the website regarding Synchro, Does this work with this version of Quickbooks?

No it only supports "traditional" QuickBooks.

How is it with the Mac version(s) of QB? Synchro still PC only? Any plans to make it Mac friendly (without having to use any virtualization)?

It's still PC only right now. I'll ask Jon what he thinks it would take to port, but I doubt we'd do a Mac version soon, even though we're big Mac fans.

Quickbooks POS will integrate hand in hand with Quickbooks pro. For your client who is using the POS system, I would suggest having them install the Quickbooks pro along with their POS system and then synchro up to that - which will in a round-about way hook their POS system and Miva together through quickbooks.

            Gamelord,

How does POS hookup with Pro, something Intuit provides? That's a great tip.

              Re: Quickbooks and Miva

You can set the standard edition of POS to interface with quickbooks, the POS comes already set up for that, just activate it. If you are using quickbooks on a separate computer then Intuit provides a free networking utility that will interface the two programs together and transfer all your information from POS to Quickbooks (ours is LAN, not sure if they have a wireless or internet connection setup but they probably do). All integration is free between the two programs and I believe that Intuit has instructions online on how to connect the two somewhere but I can't find them online at this time. The POS comes with a built in online help system that is pretty indepth and automatic updates if your connected online.

Basically quickbooks will run all the backend financial and customer tracking info and the POS works more like a POS system and handles the inventory (duh, sounds kind of dumb but hopefully you understand what I mean) - you can update inventory, prices and other info on both systems and they will sync with each other when you run the end of day. They don't run true "real time" per say...but it does work pretty well. You can run "end of day" several times a day if you really need the inventory super accurate all the time. We run it once a day and it works great for us.

We pretty much run everything through Quickbooks and do barcoding and sales through the POS. We haven't synched up with Miva yet (synchro), but that is in the very near future and we'll se how that works out. :)

The Quickbooks POS is mega fast to implement and beyond easy to set up. We went from no POS system at all to a full barcoded POS inventory controlled store in less than 2 weeks (setup for the POS was on the first day, entering product and printing barcodes and sticking them on was the rest of the time). If your already using Quickbooks, POS will pull your entire product list so all you have to do is start printing barcodes. If its a totally fresh setup then you will have to enter in all the products. Out the door cost for all the hardware, printers and scanners was around $1800.00 plus an old 1.8 gig computer & monitor (still using it today, wow, I should probably upgrade it). We've been using the POS now for about 4-5 years and it has been working virtually flawless, never have had to contact technical support or had a bug issue, not once ... which is pretty amazing.

Equipment we purchased with the POS software package:
Cash drawer - auto opens with sale
              Scanner
              Card swiper
              Scanner holder
              Bar code printer
              Thermal invoice printer
              LED price display

For now we enter orders from MIVA into the POS to generate the invoice and update the inventory and track the financial info. Hopefully Synchro will do this one step for us automatically and we will just have to fill the order.

The POS gives inventory reports and sales info as well as track sales by vendor, on hand, recent sales by month, week, day and a bunch of others. It will also give you order history for customers and list vendors and vendor info plus a ton of inventory control stuff. It doesn't have the financial control and depth that quickbooks has but it does have much better inventory control and does barcodes. :)

For our shop the POS was a dream come true and I highly recommend the product. I don't think there is a better "out of the one box" product for the price.

Hope that helps. Sorry for the long post

                  Re: Quickbooks and Miva

I read your post and am very interested about how MIVA Synchro would work with Quickbooks POS through Quickbooks Pro. We currently use POS and Quickbooks but use THUB to import orders from MIVA, which a huge pain. Would MIVA Synchro enter the receipts into QB Pro or POS? I'm not sure how inventory would get updated in POS since QB Pro does not keep the inventory info. Has anyone done this before?

                    Re: Quickbooks and Miva

I realize this is an old thread, but I have a prospective client who is running Quickbooks POS for their brick and mortar store. They are looking at having us set up a Miva storefront, but they'd like to integrate inventory availability between the two.

Has anyone integrated Quickbooks POS, Quickbooks Pro (or standard or premier), Synchro and Miva Merchant all together? If so it would be great to hear from you on what works well and what doesn't.

I'm very curious if there is a way to get inventory updated back to miva from in store purchases.

Thanks in advance for any insight/assistance provided!

                      Re: Quickbooks and Miva

If you don't find a way to integrate Quickbooks POS with Miva, there is another solution available. They could switch to the Stone Edge Order Manager and its optional POS system. That would give them real-time inventory updates between their POS system and their Miva Merchant store(s), and integration with Quickbooks Pro for accounting data. You can read about our POS system at:

Just how are you going to get Synchro to import orders into Quickbooks Pro and then have Quickbooks Pro transfer the information to Quickbooks POS. Aren't all the sales records and inventory on Quickbooks POS? Our Synchro creates customers in Quickbooks Pro.

This post is VERY old (StoneEdge was sold and Barney no longer works there).

T-Hub effectively accomplishes what you want (I believe).
