    live chat on website

We are interested to know what people are using for live chat on their web sites at this time. We were using phplivehelper until our host required us to remove it because of security issues.

We are interested in another inexpensive system to replace this. We are not particularily interested in monthly rental system.
    Thanks,
    Chet Vincentz

We use Answer Chat and it includes many features that the big dogs offer.

PHP Live Helper has had recent updates, so you should check to make sure you're running the latest version.

We have been very impressed with the ease of use and features of Kayako's LiveSupport product.

        Pamela,

We did have the latest update with the security fixes, however, our host still would not allow us to use it anymore. I will check out your suggestion. We don't need a lot of bells and whistles, mostly chat functions.
        Thanks,
        Chet Vincentz

I use this one. Seems to work well and not expensive. http://www.parachat.com/ Has several different levels to suit your needs.

If you have the latest updates to PHP Live Helper, then you are all good - ask your host to restore this app for you. It's far better than the Kayako built-in live chat system, which is extremely primitive, has several known bugs, and the back-end operator applet pretty much sucks if you have more than 1 person logged in at any given time. We use the Kayako Support Suite, but quickly went back to PHP Live Helper just for the live chat part after Kayako live chat failed miserably in production environment. It may be simple, yes, but it's TOO simple, and its lack of multi-user interoperability made it less than desirable to use.

                  Re: live chat on website

I've used a hosted solution from providesupport.com and have been extremely happy with all the features which are comparable to LivePerson.
